Making software easy to use for the whole team!

The making of the project manager's / team leader's best friend.

“We wanted to build software that was intuitive which allows users to learn the software in 1-2 hours.” – FieldStream Team

It began with a Project Manager of a Sign Installations Team.

We built FieldStream after years of running sign installation crews and running into the same frustrations with every project management tool we tried – it was either bloated with features we would never need, or missing the basics. We kept hitting the same headaches: endless phone calls, scattered job info, and no good, cheap way to store photos.

The first thing we insisted on was in-app real-time chat. Texts and WhatsApp threads get buried, and important messages sit in someone’s pocket instead of with the job. Chat inside the job card keeps the conversation, the people, and the files in one place on the phone everyone already carries. When a tech snaps a photo, it lands with the right job immediately, so approvals and updates happen faster.

We also added photo categories because ‘IMG_4021.jpg’ in a camera roll is not useful. Tagging photos as ‘before,’ ‘after,’ ‘variation,’ or ‘safety’ turns images into useful information. It saves time later when you need evidence for invoices, compliance, or a client query.

The app is simple on purpose. We learned early on if a tradie can’t learn it in 1–2 hours, they won’t use it, so we made it easy to learn and use. We cut screens, kept big actions up front, and used plain language. Fewer taps means fewer mistakes and fewer ‘how do I…?’ calls. We also have comprehensive training modules available, so teaching your people is easy.

Every feature exists to remove a real pain we had on the ground: keep comms in context, turn photos into proof, make the app learnable in an hour, and give managers clarity without constant interruptions. Not only that, we’ve tested it with our own teams, to prove to ourselves that it does what we promise it will do before we released it for other teams’ use. The result is fewer callbacks, faster invoicing, and a team that actually uses the software because it helps them get the job done.
